Parade to kick off
at 5 p.m. Tuesday

Peabody’s annual Fourth of July parade will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Peabody-Burns High School parking lot on N. Sycamore St., where units will register and line up an hour earlier.

The parade will travel west on 8th St. to Walnut St., turn south and travel down Walnut to 2nd St., and then turn west to the park, where the parade will disperse.

Units will receive numbers for judging. Judges will be an out-of-town family or group in Peabody for the celebration.

Peabody Fourth Fest Committee and Peabody Main Street will provide $600 in prizes in seven categories.

Prize money will be in the form of Peabody Bucks, good at any Peabody business.

Categories and amounts are:

  • Best float, $150; runner-up, $100.
  • Best kid’s bike, $40; three runners-up, $20 each.
  • Coolest car, $100
  • Best decorated golf cart, $50.
  • Best candy throwing entry, $50.
  • Best entry in all other categories, $50.

Winners will be announced before fireworks at the park. Prizes bucks may be picked then.

Shane and Morgan Marler are in charge of the parade again this year.
