Parent council sponsors coin collection
Staff writer
Marion Elementary School and Parents Advisory Council are sponsoring a coin collection Feb. 4 through 8.
The collection raises money for a book fair and buys items for the school library.
Librarian Lori Kirkpatrick used funds raised last year on books, beanbag chairs, and audio books.
Students raised about $1,300 last year, PAC book fair coordinator Traci Lanning said.
This year funds may go toward the Reading is Fun program.
It gives children free books every year.
Lanning will place collection boxes at local businesses starting Jan. 28.
