PBHS starts from scratch

Staff writer

Peabody-Burns High School Warrior basketball will have a new look this year with all new starters on the floor.

The team has five seniors that that will be trying to get into the game plan.

“Only one starter, senior Storm Pickens, has significant court time from last season,” head coach Brian Simmonds said. “We will look to him to provide leadership for a young team as everyone on the squad tries to find their roles.”

Two other seniors, Derek Price and Jacob Gillet, will move from a junior varsity system to a varsity scheme this year. The remaining seniors on the team — Trevor Foth, Joseph Lopez, and Sean Brunner — will give depth to the varsity squad.

Juniors Brody Kyle and Matthew Hiebert will move into starting positions this season. Neither had a lot of varsity time in the past, but both have been in the system since they were freshmen.

Sophomores Hunter Pickens, Austin Savage, and Seth Topham are three of several youngsters that may challenge the upperclassmen for playing time.

The Warriors are coached by Simmonds, who is in his third year as the PBHS boy’s basketball coach. Caleb Good will again join Simmonds on the bench as his assistant.
