Dec. 26: A window in a vacant trailer was reported broken in the 300 block of W. Third St. Police issued citations for furnishing alcohol to minors. Officers responded to a landlord’s call about several unauthorized people living in an apartment in the 400 block of N. Ash St. Officers also took a trespass complaint in the 500 block of W. Grand St.

Dec. 27: A motorist reported being harassed by another motorist while operating a vehicle. Police investigated an alleged runaway in the 100 block of N. Birch.

Dec. 28: Officers investigated an assault complaint in which a person reported being slapped by an intoxicated woman in the 200 block of E. First St. The victim did not pursue charges.

A report of a disturbance in the 300 block of N. Ash St. turned out to be a verbal confrontation over property. Police took a report of a suspicious person offering services door-to-door, and responded to a report of a possible runaway in the 100 block of S. Birch.

Dec. 29: A verbal confrontation between a boyfriend and a girlfriend caused a domestic disturbance in the 400 block of S. Date St. Shortly after a runaway was reported in the 100 block of S. Birch St., the missing juvenile returned home.

Dec. 31: Several forged checks were reported in the 300 block of N. Ash. St. A report of gunshots in the 300 block of N Ash. St. turned out to be New Years fireworks.

Thursday: Officers responded to a report of a suicidal person in the 400 block of N. Ash St.

Friday: Police investigated suspicious activity in Hillsboro Heights, attempted to locate a person wanted on warrants, and investigated a traffic complaint.

Saturday: Police rounded up chickens in the 400 block of S. Washington St. and returned them to the owner’s residence. Officers responded to a vehicle lock out, and noted suspicious activity at two carwashes.

Dec. 21: Police issued a warning for speeding on US-56 (77 in a 65 mph zone).

Dec. 22: Police investigated an accident in which a car struck a deer. Officers euthanized the deer.

Dec. 23: Police discovered a door at Prairieland Partners to be open; police contacted an employee to come shut it.

Dec. 24: Police investigated suspicious activity reported in the alley of the 100 block of W. Main St. Officers assisted sheriff’s deputies with an injury accident.

Dec. 27: Police investigated a report of a dead fox in the cemetery, but did not locate the fox. Police investigated a complaint of youths parking at Eastmoor United Methodist Church.

Dec. 29: Police investigated a non-injury accident in the 200 block of E. Main St. Speeding, failure to dim lights, and obstructed tag warnings were issued. A report of a suspicious person around a vehicle in the 100 block of W. Jefferson St. was investigated. A child knocked a globe off a Central Park light post with a soccer ball.

Dec. 30: Police issued verbal warnings for going the wrong way on one way street, two curfew violations, and a vehicle with a brake light out.

Dec. 31: Police investigated two alarms at local businesses.

Dec. 21: Police investigated a non-injury accident.

Dec. 31: Officers assisted emergency medical personnel with an unattended death.

Thursday: Hartney E. Hummer, Jr. was arrested and charged with criminal trespass on railroad property, driving under the influence of alcohol, and driving with an expired tag.

Sunday: Police opened a case of physical abuse of a child. The investigation is ongoing.
