The Preserve the Heartland Coordinating Board voted Oct. 2 to keep the group organized but inactive.
The group was formed April 19, 1990, when Fort Riley was planning an expansion of 100,000 acres in the area, a proposal the group opposed. After the Department of Defense informed the group the expansion had been canceled, the group became inactive.
Meetings were held in 1998, 2001, 2004, and 2008. The next meeting will be in 2014 unless conditions warrant meeting earlier.
Nancy Hite, Jack Methvin, Marcus Carlson, Eileen Sieger, Mark Wilcox, Phil Smith, and Jackie Hett attended the meeting.
