Did you know that skipping rocks on the river or lake is not only an art, but also has standing in the world of sports?
I know I have tried it, though not successfully. Your rock must be smooth and a flat shape and not too heavy. You have to hold it just right and send it at an angle. If you don’t it will just go ker-plunk and never be seen again.
There is a fellow on TV who refused to shake hands with anyone. It is a health precaution with him. He likes the idea of touching knuckles. The first time I saw that was when President Obama did it with his wife. I guess you wouldn’t pass on germs like you do shaking hands.
There are many different ways to greet people. Some kiss a person on both cheeks, even men. If you meet a queen, you just curtsy.
What about kissing the hand? That seems so romantic. Some male hosts on TV do that. However, it seems they choose the beautiful women. The plain women just get a handshake.
I used to hear that the Eskimos rub noses when they meet. I don’t know of any other customs used in greetings. Young people scream and hug their friends.
Do you know of any other unusual greetings? I’m sure there must be some.
I saw a big picture in a newspaper of a cute kitten rescued by firefighters. They sure know how to get attention.
