COLUMNS:   Random Thoughts

Wasn’t there a man a few years ago who fearlessly gave up his life because of his beliefs? Didn’t he say, “I have a dream” and “We shall overcome?” What would he say now? Would he be surprised his dream was answered so soon? Do you remember the book and the movie of it, “Roots?” He held his naked little son above his head, promising him a better world?

You know, I can’t help but believe that this last election was meant to end as it did.

I got so tired of those constant commercials, didn’t you?

Now if we will all work together to do what is best for our beloved country, putting aside politics, we will attain a “wonderful world.” Are you with me?

I’m now reading “My Antonia” by Willa Cather. She wrote it in 1918 but the copyright has been up-dated several times since then. I thought it might be boring but it isn’t. I really don’t want to put it down.

A last thought on politics. John McCain and Barack Obama both gave final speeches. They were thoughtful and gracious which gave a feeling of hopefulness that we will work together for the betterment of our country.

I think we are all overwhelmed of the problems ahead. I hope our leaders aren’t. A lot of people are bitter of President Bush. I feel he had a lot of problems placed on him, not his doing. Mother Nature had several bad things happen and the fall of the market can’t be all his fault.
