COLUMNS:   Random Thoughts: Hair-raising times

Contributing writer

Do you notice the hairdos of men and boys these days? You see all kinds, especially on TV. Some of the young ones have their hair stuck up in points. How do they get it to stay put? Hair has been a topic since the beginning of time. I once had a nephew who at the age of 6 had long curls to his shoulders. The hair was so beautiful his mother couldn’t bear to cut it. I imagine she shed tears when it was cut.

I like to see boys and men with neat haircuts. My grandsons went through all stages. Of course, I kept my thoughts on the matter safely quiet. How about those baseball caps even during the meal?

Looking back on our founding fathers, they had long hair. Beautiful curls. I try to tell myself that boys and men should have the right to choose the way they want to wear their hair.

Girls usually do their style. Sometimes you wonder. You don’t want to offend these sensitive young girls. Most of the young women on TV are blondes. They all look alike. I can’t tell them apart. It is the color. I don’t know why they like those streaks. I’m sure that when I was a young girl I followed the trend. Aren’t we weird?
