Raymond Meyer
Raymond L. Meyer, 75, of Wichita and formerly of Strong City, died June 17 at Via Christi Medical Center-St. Francis Campus, Wichita.
Born May 20, 1935, in Council Grove, to Henry and Alice (Carson) Meyer, he graduated from Chase County High School.
On Aug. 31, 1958, he married Jane Clark in Strong City.
He served in the U.S. Army from Sept. 20, 1954, to July 12, 1957, when he was honorably discharged.
Later he worked in sales and served as a member of the Chase County school board.
His parents and two sisters, Roberta Allen and Doris Watts, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Jane, of Wichita; two sons, Gary of Monett, Mo., and Steve of Wichita; two brothers, Ronald of Dodge City and Robert of El Dorado; and eight grandchildren.
Services were Monday at Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls with lay minister Floyd Dorsey officiating.
Military services followed in Strong City Cemetery and were provided by Fort Riley Honor Guard.
A memorial has been established with the Chase County All Veterans Memorial in care of the funeral home, 201 Cherry St, Cottonwood Falls KS 66845.
