To the editor:

We were recently at the Marion County Lake for a vacation planned well before summer began. We had planned to be on and in the water for the week with six grandkids and their parents as we had done in previous years.

As the week came closer, we frequently thought of the blue green algae and the ban on contact with the lake water. It is a challenge to keep that group occupied for the week with 100-plus temperatures and no lake. Instead we decided to try the new pool, a first for us. It was a fantastic surprise and experience.

Grandkids from age 4 months to 6 years could enjoy the water unencumbered by slimy sun screen, buoyed by life jackets provided by the pool, while parents enjoyed the clean environment and cool water.

Highest compliments go to Greta and her staff who were the best of hosts in a wonderfully safe and hospitable environment for the entire family. What a great surprise to us and asset to Marion for those who visit or live there.
