Richard L. Wyss Sr.

FLORENCE — Richard L. Wyss Sr., 85, passed away Aug. 16, 2012, at Salem Home, Hillsboro. He was born Nov. 22, 1926, in DeGraff, the son of Walter and Lena (Matthyer) Wyss.

He served in the US Army during World War II and was retired from farming and custom hay hauling. On Sept. 22, 1946, he married Lucille Phillips.

He was preceded in death by all his siblings: Ida Criger, Matilda Abrams, Martha Frost, Betty Bowers, and Robert, Bill, and Johnnie Wyss.

He is survived by his wife Lucille; his children: daughter Sandra (Terry) Rogers of Garden City; and sons: Richard (Darla) of Newton; Marvin (Paula) of Marion; and Jeff (Lynda) of Florence; sister-in-law Hazel of Onaga; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Visitation with family was Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Zeiner Funeral Home, Florence. Funeral service was Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Florence United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery, Burns. Memorial fund established for Florence United Methodist Church, in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, PO Box 6, Marion, KS, 66861.
