Kansas 4-H announced earlier this month that Karl Riffel of Tampa is a state project winner. He will receive the award tomorrow at the 4-H Emerald Circle Banquet in Manhattan. The award is based upon work completed in 2011.
Karl raised and showed three Boer meat goats — two wethers and one doe.
In applying for the award, he submitted a 14-page resume that included his goals for the project, his project experiences, leadership and citizenship activities, and non-4-H experiences related to the project.
As a project winner, Karl earned a trip to the National 4-H Congress, which will be in November in Atlanta, Ga. He also will carry a flag in the Grand Gala ceremonies at the Kansas State Fair before the grand champions are selected.
Karl is the son of James and Beth Riffel of Tampa.
