Roger Hannaford Jr.

Roger W. “Bud” Hannaford Jr., 79, passed away Oct. 1, 2011, from St. Luke Hospital, Marion.

He was born Jan. 13, 1932, in Marion, the son of Roger W. and Norma McCullough Hannaford Sr. He owned and operated Hannaford Abstract and Title Company.

He served his country during the Korean War with the United States Army.

On Sept. 20, 1953, he was united in marriage to Lavonne Slocombe. He is survived by his wife, Lavonne, of the home; his son Roger (Sally) Hannaford III of Marion; daughter, Gayle (Mike) Thomas of Marion; sisters, Wanda Burke of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mary (Bob) Exline of Salina; five grandchildren, Mike (Kristina) Helmer, Adam Thomas, Scott (Karen) Hannaford, Ryan Thomas, and Jill (Joel) Versch; and two great-grandchildren, Anderson and Carson Helmer.

Visitation with family will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Marion Presbyterian Church. Interment in Marion Cemetery.

The Bud Hannaford Memorial Fund has been established to assist the Marion High School football program, Marion Presbyterian Church, and the Marion community, in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm St., Marion, KS, 66861.
