Ronald Break
Ronald L. Break, 79, Marion, died Feb. 4, 2009, at Robert Dole Veterans Administration Hospital, Wichita, after a yearlong battle with cancer.
Born Aug. 18, 1929, at Florence, he was the son of Ernest and Pearl (Caley) Break.
He graduated from Florence High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On Oct. 30, 1955, he married Marian Atkins and they made their home in rural Marion.
For many years, he worked at the Marion County Record and later for Kansas Department of Transportation, retiring in 1992.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Bonnie Jean Considine, a brother, Bobby Dean, and a grandson, James Hayes.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a daughter, Cheryl Stewart of Towanda; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services were Saturday morning at Florence Hillcrest Cemetery with the Reverend Phil Smith officiating.
Memorial funds have been established with Valley United Methodist Church of Marion or Florence Alumni Association.
