Runners hit their stride at Eureka
Not too hot, not too cold, with a gentle breeze — the weather was almost ideal for Marion cross-country runners Thursday at Eureka.
“It was a beautiful day for a cross-country race,” coach Rebecca Hofer said. “We finally had nice weather for a change.”
The high school ran good races and brought home six medals, Hofer said. Seth Savage and Taylor Fahey also set new personal records.
The high school boys’ 5K results were Timothy Knolla, 6th, 19:05; Jared Hague, 11th, 19:45; Quinton Hett, 38th, 22:00; Taylor Fahey, 40th, 22:06; and Seth Savage, 42nd, 22:32.
The high school girls’ 4K varsity results were McKenzee Remmers, 11th, 18:17.
Junior varsity girls’ 4K results were Kaylie Waner, 6th, 21:58; Shyla Harris, 7th, 22:15; and Brittany Hett, 9th, 23:05.
“This was Marion’s last regular season meet,” Hofer said. “Next week will be league followed by regionals, both of which will have strong competition.”
The league meet will be Thursday in Marion.
