Dave and Carla Tharp of Marion announce the birth of a son, Ryan Patrick Tharp, at 3:25 p.m. Jan. 5 at Newton Medical Center.

He weighed 7 pounds and was 19.5 inches long.

His brother, Jacob, 2, welcomed him home.

Grandparents are Greg and Linda Carlson and Blair and Nancy Tharp of Marion.

Gary and Shirley Carlson of Marion, Bill and Edna Robinson of Florence, and Louise Wood and Dalene Tharp of Marion are his great-grandparents.
