Marion High School varsity and junior varsity scholars bowl teams participated in the Heart of America league meet Jan. 18 at Moundridge.

The varsity team struggled to a 1-7 record, with its lone win coming against Bennington, 40-30. 

Nick Meyer led individual scoring with 100 points, followed by Drew Knolla, 50, Beth Nesser, 40, and Elizabeth Goentzel, 20.

 The junior varsity squad had better success, compiling a 4-4 record, with wins over Canton-Galva, 100-20; Ell-Saline, 50-40; Remington, 60-20; and Bennington, 50-40. 

Kaylie Waner scored 160 points, Alicia Maloney, 100, Cailtlyn Maloney, 50, Jared Hague, 50, and Quintin Hett, 30.

The next scheduled competition for the varsity team is the regional tournament Feb. 2 at Douglass.
