Scout attends National Jamboree

Riley Hake of Marion joined Boy Scouts Troop 105 of Osborne at the 2013 National Boy Scout Jamboree in July at Summit Bechtel Reserve, West Virginia.

Before arriving at the jamboree, the group took a detour to New York and Washington, D.C., seeing the Statue of Liberty, Sept. 11 Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, Arlington National Cemetery, and several museums.

There were nearly 40,000 scouts and leaders at the 10-day jamboree in the mountains. It was the first jamboree at the reserve.

Activities included archery, rifle shooting, skeet shooting, white-water rafting, and mountain biking. There were also concerts, other shows, and a fireworks display.

Also among the group attending the jamboree were Riley’s uncle, Nate Brown, and cousin, Roxton Brown. Russ and Shawna Hake of Marion are Riley’s parents.
