Select students sing in Honor Choir
An octet of Marion Middle School singers joined a throng of 135 voices Saturday at Andover Central High School in a South Central Kansas Music Educators Honor Choir workshop and performance.
Elizabeth Schaefer, Drew Helmer, Emmy Hess, Luisa Junqueira, Charlie Nordquist, Evann Heidebrecht, Christian Becker, and Ethan Darnall made up Marion’s roster.
Marion vocal music teacher Julia Miller said she was proud the way students performed and conducted themselves.
“Our singers not only worked incredibly hard toward this opportunity, but they represented the school in the best way possible,” Miller said. “We are so lucky to have children who not only love to sing in this community, but who sing well.”
Students practiced and performed under the direction of master teacher, conductor, and composer Cristi Miller of Oklahoma City.
One of the songs honor choir members performed will also be featured at the middle school’s winter concert on Dec. 16, Miller said.
