Elvis birthday celebration planned

Marion Senior Center correspondent

Center patrons will celebrate Elvis Presley’s birthday Jan. 8, with Marc Baker of Wichita impersonating the “King.” A light lunch will be served at 6 p.m. with his performance to follow.

Keith and Norine Holtsclaw provided treats Dec. 16 for their anniversary. They couldn’t be at the center that day because they were ill.

The monthly board meeting of Senior Citizens of Marion County Inc. was hosted Dec. 17 by the Marion center. Some Mickey Mouse items were removed from Janet Bryant’s desk, an ongoing game with this group.

Following lunch, tai chi class members demonstrated what they had learned. Those taking the class include Virginia Bowers, Carol Hett, Carol Dvorak, Betty Crumrine, Barbara Smith, Mary Rogers, Pamela Adams, Sue Clough, Rhonda Brenzikofer, Arlene Bowers, and Virginia Downing. They received gold belts for completing the course.

The newsletter crew quickly assembled a mailing Dec. 20. Volunteers included Jane Makovec, Ivanlee Timm, Nora Richter, Beulah and Darrell Weigart, Elsie Reiswig, Norma Woerz, Connie Fisher, Sue Clough, Evelyn Jewett, Lanell Hett, and Gayla Ratzlaff.

Shirley Bowers brought her blooming Christmas cactus to the center.

Diners received an M&M candy to use in a Christmas story, using the letters of the alphabet, turning the candy in different directions.

In January, the center will need a driver to deliver meals on Fridays. It takes an hour and mileage will be reimbursed.

Herb and Joyce Jackson brought treats for their wedding anniversary Dec. 22. Jim Osborn provided ice cream for no particular reason.

Barbara Hartley of Herington sang after lunch Dec. 22.

Medicare representatives from Hutchinson will present the program Jan. 5.
