Seniors observed National Day of the Cowboy on July 23 with a cardboard cutout of John Wayne. Judy Dannenfelser loaned him to the center. Diners wore cowboy hats, boots, and bandanas. Following lunch, Leonard Klassen, Ivanlee Timm, Shirley Moore, Ralph Popp, Sue Clough, Larry Blusser, and Jerry Kline read cowboy poetry. The luncheon closed with the group singing “Home on the Range,” with piano accompaniment by Shirley Bowers.

The winner of the penny jar guessing game was Connie Rock who guessed $30. There was $30.79 in the jar. Fred Puttroff made a wild guess of $1 million.

Ralph Popp provided ice cream to celebrate his birthday July 26. Harvey Wells brought candy bars in recognition of his birthday July 27.

Hilltop Manor residents were guests July 28 for lunch. Sixty people ate at the center that day. Sheryl Simmonds, a physical therapist from St. Luke Hospital, provided a program after lunch.

Janet Blue will give a vocal performance Aug. 11.
