New volunteers are welcomed

Jackie Hett has volunteered to work in the dining room once a week.

Rhonda Brenzikofer celebrated her birthday March 7 with seniors at the center. Margene Dornbush was the cook that day, giving full-time cook Theresa Graham a day off.

Shirley Bowers brought a sunflower wall hanging and sewed it to cardboard. It was then placed on an easel at the center.

Two new volunteers, Nate Thompson and Doug Fisher, delivered meals March 8. The men are from Hillsboro but with maps and diagrams, they managed to deliver the meals.

The Barbie doll’s birthday was March 9. Shirley Bowers displayed Barbie, Ken, Midge, and Skipper dolls. The group sang “Happy Birthday to You” and ate treats.

Janet Bryant attended the quarterly meeting of county nutrition site managers in Goessel. Whenever the centers are closed because of inclement weather, the meals have to be served another time.

Joe Pickett of St. Luke Hospital gave a presentation about bone density tests to help diagnose osteoporosis.
