The senior center held an ice cream social and cakewalk July 2 as part of Marion’s sesquicentennial.
Decorations included a hula-hoop attached to a ceiling fan flying crepe paper streamers, which was the designated cakewalk area. Marilyn Geis turned on the fan and streamers spun and wound up around the fan.
Many people wore red, white, and blue July 1 as they celebrated Independence Day. Diners recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, sang the National Anthem, and Geis read about the Pentagon’s recognition of veterans Friday. Barbara Abbott provided patriotic placemats.
Come for lunch July 20 when Gene Winkler will talk about iPods. A cookout will be noon Saturday.
