Two special days were observed this past week. One of them was International Tiara Day, a celebration of the leadership skills of women. Several women wore tiaras including Thelma Blosser, Shirley Moore, Pearl Helmer, Shirley Bowers, and Janet Bryant. Gemma Davies wore a crown of flowers and Evelyn Jewett wore a headband.
Kazoo Day was May 26. Thelma provided a kazoo for each diner. The seniors practiced humming to recorded music then were accompanied by Shirley on the piano. It was suggested the group march in the Old Settlers’ Day parade, playing their kazoos.
Joan Meyer brought birthday treats May 21.
Fundraiser Frank Albert was the speaker May 26, giving an update on the St. Luke Hospital Foundation campaign for hospital renovations.
Red Hat Day will be Tuesday with Connie Geier providing the program. Members of the Red Hat Society of Marion County are invited to attend. All seniors are encouraged to wear red hats.
EarCare of McPherson will provide free hearing tests at 1 pm. June 9 at the center.
