Marion Senior Center

Senior citizens at the center had fun with a visitor recently. Erica Hollins had a toy monkey baby and asked some of the diners to choose a name — Sue Ann or Precious — for the monkey. The winning name was Precious but to make everyone happy, the monkey became Precious Sue Ann.

Homemade cookies were given to diners June 10 to celebrate Richard Brenzikofer’s birthday. His wife, Rhonda, baked the treats.

There will be a new entrée on the center’s menu in July — shrimp.

Darrell Weigart brought candy bars June 14 to celebrate his birthday. Seniors also celebrated Flag Day by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag and playing flag trivia.

Senior Center Day was June 16 and Anita Hancock brought two of her piano students — Tyler Arocha and Shyla Harris — who performed. Shyla also sang the song, “The Rose.” Anita played “This Old House” and “America the Beautiful” on the piano. Keith Allison tuned the piano before the performance.

On June 30, Merle Ecklund will play his accordion and Deb Harrington will provide a karaoke machine.
