CORRESPONDENTS:   Senior Center

Marion County Senior Center correspondent

We have served as a celebration center several times in the past week. Every day we celebrate just being here, of course, having a good meal among friends.

We have a new shipment of greeting cards and napkins. Come in and choose from our spring selection.

Jerry Harp provided ice cream cups for us March 12. Sue Clough also displayed some of her artwork that day.

Hilltop Manor residents joined us for lunch March 16, when we had enchiladas. There were 59 people eating here that day.

March 16 was St. Urho Day, a patron saint of Finland. We read a story and included actions.

St. Patrick’s Day came with seniors in shades of green attire. Thelma Blosser arrived with a green wig. We had birthday treats for Evelyn Jewett, including cupcakes ordered by her daughter. We participated in a St. Patrick’s story, complete with actions.

Senior Center Day was March 18. Marilyn Geis told of her trip to Ireland and we sang Irish songs selected by Virginia Downing. It turned out to be one of the funniest programs because of audience silliness.

Join us for lunch April 1. Rollin Schmidt will talk about a new countywide recycling program.
