We may be off the beaten path, but people are finding us at noon- time. We’ve averaged 50 people eating here every day for the past two weeks. It’s very lively here.

We were glad to have Harold Bowers back Oct. 23, sitting at “his” place at the table.

We celebrated National Fork Day Oct. 24 with some trivia, an inspirational story, and a song. Forks were thought to be tools of the devil when they first appeared with clergy opposed to them.

On Oct. 28, it was “Bring Something in Day.” Evelyn Jewett brought a John Deer-themed quilt. Thelma Blosser brought a flea market find — a blue velvet-back Elvis blanket. Shirley Bowers brought home-grown flowers.

Mary Beth Bowers gave a wheat and bread-making demonstration Oct. 29. We all had homemade bread to eat, hot from the oven. Chris Puttroff, who was visiting his father, was chosen to grind wheat.

Join us Nov. 12 when our speaker will be Sandee Wilbur of the American Cancer Society.

A veterans administration representative will be at the center Nov. 18.
