The senior citizens of Marion County Board of Directors met July 15 in Goessel.

Hillsboro Senior Center President Charles Rempel asked the board for an additional $200 for workers’ compensation insurance. He said currently the center pays $885 a year and $297 every three months for the insurance. The board approved additional funds.

Shirley Bowers reported that each district will have an opening to fill by the annual meeting. Marlene Anduss agreed to fill a vacant position.

The Ramona Senior Center is closing; the building will go back to the city, which it will use for a community center. Chairman Lila Unruh read a letter detailing the reasons for the Ramona center’s dissolution.

Central Home Care Administrator Robert Carlton informed the board of the future of Medicare funding. He said Medicaid is researching cuts between $2.5 and $4.2 trillion dollars.

Ratzlaff proposed a calendar to be sold at centers for $5. The proceeds would go toward a scholarship for a Marion County high school senior.

Jerry Kline reminded members of the upcoming Senior Fair Sept. 20 in Salina.
