Senior Center correspondent

Patrons of Marion Senior Center celebrated National Day of the Cowboy on July 25 by wearing cowboy attire and with cowboy poetry and songs, including “Home on the Range.” Poetry readers were Marilyn Cox, Harold Triggs, Larry Blosser, Shirley Moore, Virginia Hammond, Prudy Hanson, Estelle McCarty, Connie Fisher, and Janet Bryant. Judy Dannenfelser brought a John Wayne cardboard cutout and Phyllis Soyez brought a cowgirl doll. Shirley Bowers played the piano.

Residents of Hilltop Manor and the Lincolnville Ladies joined patrons for lunch July 30. Guests were Maxine Barton, Marilyn Montgomery, Ruth Tajchman, Twilla Baker, and Alta Huffington. Sherry Dreier, formerly Sherry Mulvenon of Marion, showed off her quilts.

Judy Thompson will give a presentation about her work as veterans service representative on Aug. 13. After her presentation she will be available to see veterans in need of assistance.

Friday — Pork cutlet or fish, macaroni and cheese, peas, coleslaw, fruit, and roll.

Monday — Spaghetti with sauce, carrots, tossed salad, fresh fruit, garlic toast, and cookie.

Tuesday — Barbecue chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, mixed vegetables, lemon bar, and roll.

August 13 — Smothered pork chops, baked potato, wax beans, cinnamon apples, and roll.

August 14 — Tater tot casserole with peas, tossed salad, fruit, and roll.
