SENIOR CENTER:   Seniors observe Day of Cowboy

Marion Senior Center

Cowboys were abundant at the center July 21, when seniors celebrated National Day of the Cowboy. Everyone received a bandanna and a deputy sheriff badge.

With cardboard cutouts of John Wayne and Roy Rogers in the background, Connie Fisher, Sue Clough, Jim Hett, Max Ewert, Janie Westerman, Larry Blosser, Joan Meyer, Madonna Schafers, and Janet Bryant read cowboy poetry.

Clough led everyone in singing Home on the Range, with accompaniment by Shirley Bowers.

Beverly Hoch and her mother, Nadine, were special guests July 30.

Edith Warneke brought birthday treats Aug. 1.

Bonnie Sawyer of Marion Assisted Living presented the program Thursday. She reported that blood pressure checks and blood sugar checks would be available from 8 a.m. to noon, beginning Aug. 13.

A veteran’s representative will be at the center 9:30 a.m. Aug. 14.
