Marion Senior Center correspondent

Marion Senior Center is taking reservations for Crown Uptown Dinner Theatre’s new comedy, “Love, Sex and the I.R.S.”

The trip is planned for 9:30 a.m. Aug. 20 transportation will be provided. The public is welcome to join.

The senior center has an abundance of cucumbers. The center is happy to receive produce from area gardeners.

Gorgeous Grandma Day was July 23. Every grandmother present was acknowledged

A gentleman came in one day and took a hot meal and a week’s worth of frozen meals. The center is willing to provide this option for others.

National Day of the Cowboy was celebrated July 24 with readings of cowboy poetry and singing of “Home on the Range.” Readers were Jerry Kline, Keith Holtsclaw, Leonard Klassen, Ralph Popp, Ivanlee Timm, Charles Montgomery, and Shirley Moore. Shirley Bowers accompanied on the piano.

Judy Dannenfelser brought in a life-sized cardboard cutout of John Wayne so seniors could have photos taken with him.

Richard and Lois Johnson were welcomed back after a period of absence.

Rowena Olsen provided treats July 29 even though she had been hospitalized.

A representative from Hatfield Mobility will speak Aug. 12.

Thursday – Roast beef and gravy, mashed potatoes, carrot coin salad, peach cups, rolls.

Friday – Fish, macaroni and cheese, broccoli and cauliflower salad, grapes, rolls.

Monday – Ham loaf, sweet potatoes, coleslaw with carrots, pineapple upside-down cake, rolls.

Tuesday – Meatloaf, baked potatoes, creamy lettuce and pea salad, peach cup, rolls.

Wednesday – Smothered chicken with brown rice, sliced tomatoes, cantaloupe, rolls.
