Sherri Druse
Sherri Marie Druse passed away Dec. 14, 2009, at St. Joseph Medical Center, Wichita.
She was born on Friday, July 13, 1962, at Axtell Hospital, Newton, to Bob and Donna Kelly. She grew up in Marion and graduated from Marion High School.
She was a faithful member of St. Mark Catholic Church until she moved from Marion.
Music was an important part of her life. When she was little, before she started school, she could sing all of “Here Comes Peter Cottontail” and every bit of “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad.” Her best renditions were when playing outdoors. She started piano lessons at about age 8 and continued through high school. She also played clarinet in the band, sang in school groups and church, played the organ at church, and helped with children’s music.
Sherri always loved animals. She had pet ducks and several different cats. The ducks were a challenge for her when baby ducks would hatch because she would have to find homes for them with people who would promise not to eat them.
One of her favorite things was flowers. She always had flowers in a vase somewhere in the house. She loved giving flowers to others to enjoy, especially her Mom. Sherri had a very special relationship with her beloved Grandma Sue Ehrlich, spending much time with her.
Her happy, friendly personality made working as a waitress a pleasure for her and her customers.
In March 1982, Sherri married Douglas Druse. They had three beautiful children. She loved her children very much and was so proud of them. And then came the precious granddaughter. The marriage to Doug ended in 1998 but they remained friends.
Sherri is survived by her parents, Bob and Donna Kelly of Marion; two sons, Christopher and Joshua Druse; a daughter, Danielle Druse, and granddaughter, Saxon, of Melbourne, Fla.; a brother, Patrick Kelly; sister-in-law, Lynn Kelly, and two nephews, Evan and Ryan Kelly of Edina, Mo.; an uncle; two aunts; many cousins; and friends.
When pneumonia and sepsis invaded her body, after a week of prayers, excellent care, and technology, God took her home in His loving arms.
Sherri was a very loving and giving person and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion, followed by visitation until 9 p.m.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark Catholic Church, Holy Family Parish, Marion.
Interment will be at Marion Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the church in care of the funeral home.
