Shields seeks sponsorships for Australian trip

Brenna Shields, a student at Centre High School, has been invited to participate in Down Under, a sports program in Australia, during July.

She was selected to the United States track team for her success in Kansas State High School Athletic Association competition at the local and state levels.

She will participate in the long jump, 100-yard dash, and 4x100 relay. Athletes from across the U.S., six from each state, will join her. The team will be coached by Olympic coaches and will compete against three other countries including Australia.

Other sports included in the Down Under Sports program are wrestling, basketball, volleyball, cross country, golf, and football. The program is an opportunity for athletes to participate in spirited competition against other countries while experiencing the beauty and culture of Australia.

Shields will be representing her school, community, Kansas, and the United States. She is currently seeking sponsors for her trip. Anyone who would like to contribute may go to downundersports.weebly.com. to get more information about Down Under and how to contact Shields.

She is the daughter of Kim Shannon Shields and the late Carroll Shields.
