People looking for a unique gift for everyone on their list and to do good for others are invited to shop at the Alternative Gift Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Marion City Building.
Guests can check out booths that represent over 20 different charities from feeding the hungry in America, to preserving the rainforest in South America, and providing seed to farmers in Ethiopia.
Booths operated by local groups, churches, and people will have homemade ornaments that will be given to people who donate to their charity. Those who donate can either keep the ornament for their own tree, or make a donation in the name of a loved one and gift them the ornament.
“It’s a great way to help people and check off the Christmas list,” event coordinator Jackie Volbrecht said.
Concessions and drinks will be available. Money donated for them will benefit the Marion Emergency Food Bank.
All the proceeds from the market go directly to the charities project costs.
