Sister Oswald Havlik

Sister Oswald Havlik, CSJ, 89, entered eternal life Oct. 24, 2010.

The daughter of Anton and Leopolda (Stary) Havlik, Patricia was raised in Tampa.

She entered the Congregation of St. Joseph in 1937 and received the name Sister M. Oswald. During her 66 years of active ministry, Sister Oswald served at St. Ann’s Home, Oklahoma City; St. Joseph Home for Children, El Dorado; St. Mary Cathedral Convent, Wichita; St. Mary of the Plains Academy, St. Mary of the Plains College, and the bishop’s residence, Dodge City; Ponca City Hospital, Ponca City, Okla.; Mercy Hospital, Parsons; St. Rose Hospital, Hayward, Calif.; and Mount Carmel Medical Center, Pittsburg.

In addition to the members of her religious community, Sister Oswald is survived by her brother, Laddie of Kanapolis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and five brothers.

A wake will be 7 tonight. Mass of Christian burial will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, both at Wichita Center of the Congregation of St. Joseph, 3700 E. Lincoln St., Wichita.
