Six MHS warriors make all-league football team

Six Marion High School football players were named to the Heart of America All-League team.

Senior Connor Thierolf made first team for offensive line and linebacker. As a linebacker, Thierolf had 70 first-hit tackles and assisted on 52 tackles. He completed three tackles for a loss. The next closest Warriors in tackles were Adam Cope with 48 first-hit tackles and Brody Carroll with 25 assisted tackles.

Senior running back Les Riggs also made the first team offense. Riggs led the Warriors with 866 yards rushing and eight touchdowns.

Junior tight end Dakin Ledford rounds out the Warriors represented on the first team offense. He had four catches for 82 yards during the season. He also made the second team defense as a defensive end. Ledford recorded three sacks and three fumble recoveries for the season.

Junior David Helmer made the first team defense as a defensive lineman. Helmer recorded 25 first-hit tackles, 21 assisted takedowns, and two tackles for a loss. He also recovered a fumble.

Senior Dillon Richmond rounds out the defensive first teamers as the punter. Richmond punted 33 times with an average of 35.6 yards per kick. His longest punt traveled 62 yards.

Senior defensive backs Randy Regnier and Jordan Versch made the second team defense. Regnier intercepted four passes and Versch intercepted one pass, which he returned for a touchdown.
