Some to get break on new lake fees

Staff writer

People who already reserved Marion County Lake hall for 2023 won’t be affected but new and later reservations for either half of the hall will cost $75 instead of $50 per half day.

Noting that the hall is booked out as far as three years in advance, superintendent Isaac Hett asked commissioners Monday whether he should notify people with reservations about the price increase.

Commissioners voted to grandfather in rates for 2023 dates but apply increased rates for dates in 2024.

Other fees also will increase:

  • Shelter house reservations will be $10 a day with no option to reserve a half-day.
  • Golf cart and ATV permits will now be $50, up from $40.
  • Camping with electric and water service was increased $1 a night to $14 for county residents and $4 a night to $18 for others.
  • Annual camping permits for county residents will now cost $100 and $8 a night, up from $50 a year and $6 a night. Out-of-county residents will pay $150 and $10 a night, up from $125 a year and $7 a night.
  • Boat and RV storage will cost $20 a month, up from $15.
  • County boat permits will be $10 for up to 9 horsepower; $15 for 10 to 14 horsepower; $22 for 15 to 99 horsepower; $30 for 100 to 199 horsepower; and $40 for more than 200 horsepower. All jet skis permits will cost $30.

Disc golf rental, tent and primitive camping, and boat slip reservations are unchanged.

Commissioners also reviewed mower bids for the lake and chose a Kawasaki with a five-year, 3,000-mile warranty for $16,090.10.
