St. Luke has election

Bruce Skiles was elected to the Hospital District No. 1 board Tuesday to fill Ken Vinduska’s position, and Linda Carlson and Linda Allison were re-elected to three-year terms. Carlson received 19 votes; Skiles and Allison, 18 each; and Gene Winkler, 12.

Vinduska left the board after 10 years.

For his annual operations report, CEO Jeremy Armstrong compared current business to when he began in 2006. Inpatient services have fallen by about two-thirds, but outpatient care has more than made up for the loss of inpatient revenue, he said. The shift to more outpatient care is part of the hospital’s strategic plan, he said.

Chief Financial Officer Bev Reid gave the annual financial report. Inpatient and outpatient revenue were both up in 2013 compared to 2012, she said, and the hospital district had a net income of $467,000 for the year, although that includes about $700,000 of tax revenue.
