The February 2010 issue of U.S. News and World Report lists St. Luke Living Center, Marion, among the top 173 long-term care facilities in America. It is one of seven Kansas facilities on the list.
The listing is under “America’s Best Nursing Homes.”
More than 15,500 homes were evaluated. Selections were based on health inspections and amount and quality of nursing care.
Within a range of one to five stars, the nursing homes listed scored five stars overall, the highest possible rating, in the latest evaluation by the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
“I am overwhelmed,” said living center director Janet Herzet. “It’s an honor to be recognized as giving quality care. I think St. Luke is a wonderful place for residents to live. They get wonderful care. We have a great staff.”
Golden Living Center in Cottonwood Falls also is on the list.
U.S. News rankings rely on Nursing Home Compare, a program run by the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
