State funding to a local mental health disability organization was again a subject discussed Monday by county commissioners.
Harvey-Marion County Community Developmental Disability Organization director Elizabeth Schmidt said her organization took a cut of nearly $20,000 to its administrative funds, despite an “unprecedented” caseload of 237 individuals during the past year.
The most recent data says more than 3,000 Kansans remain waiting for services.
Commissioners said they would consider a $62,000 budget request from the organization, which was equal to that of past requests.
In other business:
- Commissioners approved a salary change for part-time deeds office employee Bonnie Vinduska, from $8 to $10 per hour.
- Regular sales tax for the county in June was $55,597. Sales tax for the jail was $48,519.
- After a 10-minute closed session with Sheriff Rob Craft regarding personnel, commissioners approved the promotion of corrections officer Tim Young to lead corrections officer and jailer.
- Marion city administrator Roger Holter told commissioners annexing the county lake has for many years been a part of two city zoning master plans.
- After a 15-minute closed session with road and bridge department supervisor Randy Crawford, commissioners approved the transition of Jesse Hamm to road supervisor and Bud Druse as assistant road supervisor. Hamm and Druse are switching job titles.
- The total overage for the 4th St. project in front of the jail came out to $2,288.
- Paige Hatcher-Dodson was appointed Tuesday as a medical consultant to the public board of health. She will replace Don Hodson.
