Centre Elementary School students will be honored at 1 p.m. April 30 in a public awards ceremony in Lost Springs for their contributions toward making CES the Kansas Green School of the Year.
The ceremony will bring several dignitaries to Lost Springs including Kansas Secretary of Agriculture Josh Svaty, Child Nutrition and Wellness Team Director Jodi Macky and consultant Barb Depew, and Shari Wilson from the Kansas Association of Conservation and Environmental Education.
The award was new in 2009 and is co-sponsored by KACEE and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
It is awarded to schools showing innovation, leadership, and outstanding environmental stewardship, in addition to incorporating environmental education into the school curriculum.
