IN MEMORIAM:   Steve Hett

Steven L. “Steve” Hett, 67, passed away April 1, 2016, at Newton Medical Center.

He was born October 23, 1948, at Marion, the son of Walter and Jacquelyn (Manuel) Hett. He proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

In 1990, he was united in marriage to Barbara Stephens. He owned Hett Roofing and was also a rancher.

He was preceded in death by his father Walter Hett.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Barbara Hett of Marion; his mother, Jackie Hett of Marion; his daughter, Kelley Schafers and her husband, Travis, of Marion; a son, Ed Svitak and his wife, Mindi, of Pilsen; and a daughter, Amy Woods and her husband, James, of San Antonio, Texas; his sisters, Melanie Ensey and her husband, Larry, of Marion; Melinda Helmer and her husband, Ken, of Wichita; and Melissa O’Sullivan and her husband, Tim, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation with family was from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion.

A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Aulne United Methodist Church. Interment with military rites will be in the Claney Cemetery.
