Suzanne Watt
Suzanne Wheeler Watt, 88, of St. Charles, Illinois, and formerly of Naperville, Illinois, passed away Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017, at her home with her loving family at her side.
She was born Oct. 10, 1928, in Marion, Kansas, the daughter of the late John and Natalie (nee Manville) Wheeler.
Suzanne was a graduate of Kansas State University and a medical technologist. She was assistant director of Consolidated Laboratories at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, for 25 years prior to her retirement.
She was an active member of SS. Peter and Paul Church and St. Raphael Church in Naperville, active in many church activities, including transitional housing. Suzanne enjoyed politics, was an avid reader and active member of her beloved book club for 53 years, gardening, knitting, playing bridge, and taking part in many Naperville events since 1958. She loved to cook, especially homemade chicken soup, and was well known for her Christmas Eve cinnamon rolls. She was a beloved mother, adored grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her seven loving children, Anne Watt of Wisconsin; Joan Lencioni of St. Charles; James Watt of Naperville; Mary Danner of Naperville; Kate Schrank and husband, William, of Michigan; Brian Watt of Florida; and Margaret McKenna of Wisconsin; her cherished grandchildren, Kelly Burns; Meghan Lietz; Patrick Burns; Robert Cannon; Katie Stan and husband, Robert; Elizabeth Rippberger and husband, Douglas; Daniel Polak and wife, Whitney; Christopher Danner; Claire Ruff and husband, Kendall; Eleanore Pittman; Lewis Schrank; Keileen Schrank; Tim Schrank; Desmond Watt and wife, Nicole; Trudy Wood and husband, Christopher; Julia Watt; Fiona McKenna; and Thomas McKenna; her 18 adored great-grandchildren; and many other dear relatives and friends.
Suzanne is preceded in death by her parents; siblings John, Edwin, and Mahlon Wheeler; and her husband, Desmond Burke Watt.
For those who would like to leave a lasting tribute to Suzanne’s life, memorial donations may be made in her name to Doctors Without Borders or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A memorial visitation was Sunday, Sept. 10, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Naperville. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
