Tabor College Bluejays drop heartbreaker in Winfield

Southwestern topples Tabor, 23-20

Sports writer

With eight straight losses, Nov. 7 may have been a date circled on the Bluejays football team’s calendar.

That’s because Tabor would get perhaps its best chance to snap its losing streak Saturday in Winfield against the Southwestern Moundbuilders.

The Bluejays’ heartbreaks have multiplied throughout the year, and they continued again with Southwestern grinding out a 23-20 victory.

Saturday’s loss keeps Tabor in 10th place in the KCAC at 0-8 in league play and 0-9 overall.

Any chance of the Bluejays improving from 10th-place came to an end as the setback keeps them two games behind both St. Mary and Bethel in conference action with one game left on the schedule.

Tabor’s season comes to an end Saturday with a road trip to Leavenworth to take on St. Mary.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
