Thirty members of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association made their annual trip to Tampa on Sept. 25 to visit Frank Patton. Patton began the organization in Kansas in the late 1970s. He was the first state director and organized the first Kansas rally at Herington. The organization has an award named after him, presenting it each year to those who provide extraordinary service to the organization. Marty Danner of Wichita organized the Tampa trip.
Georgia Spohn met Melvin Mohn of Lyons on Sept. 29 and they ate dinner out.
Lucille Kerbs, Julie Kerbs, and Ashton and Sydney Smith attended a volleyball game Sept. 28 in Abilene. Doug and Connie Thompson of Abilene also attended. Taylor Thompson plays on the freshman team.
Prairie Pals met Sept. 28 in the home of Mary Clemmer with Michele Berens assisting as host. Michele demonstrated ways to tie scarves. This was the first meeting following a summer hiatus. Others in attendance were Iona Dietrich, Eunice Steiner, Jeanne Rziha, Lori Meyer, Laveta Meyer, Virginia Bentz, and Jane Vajnar.
Frank and Anna Mae Stika attended a volleyball game Sept. 28 at Centre High School.
Adeline Bernhardt was among those from Tampa who attended a the funeral service for Agnes Bernhardt on Sept. 28 at Strassburg Baptist Church.
Georgia Spohn met her cousin, Lenora Graham of Florence, on Sept. 27 in Hillsboro. They attended a Learning in Retirement program at Tabor College and ate dinner out. David Karber of Long Beach, Calif., gave a presentation about Turkey.
St. John’s Lutheran Church had an annual hamburger fry Sept. 26. Hamburgers and sausage were grilled. Members of the congregation brought salads and desserts.
Rustyn Kerbs was crowned homecoming king Sept. 24 at the Centre football game. Katie Remy was chosen as queen. Attendants were Tori Marler, Allison Shields, Tanner Brunner, and Brian Burhoop.
The Spohn family including Gary and Carole, Steve and Sheri, and Ryan, Adam, and Lauren ate supper out Sept. 24 in Hope. Ryan and his children stayed until Sept. 26.
Melissa Stuchlik visited her grandmother, Leona Kleiber, on Sept. 23.
