Farmers gathered Aug. 10 at the senior center in Tampa for a supper and Watershed Restoration and Protection Strategy program sponsored by Kansas State University. The speaker reviewed conservation practices. Tampa PRIDE served the meal.

Sunflower Senior Citizens met Aug. 10 for the monthly potluck and meeting. Carol and Shirley Zaideman were hosts. Others in attendance were Adeline Bernhardt, Donna Bundy, Mary Clemmer, Darlene Cramer, Leona Kleiber, Betty Mueller, Frank Patton, Jane Vajnar, and Don Witt. After the meeting, the group played a card game.
Adeline Bernhardt stayed with Carl and Kathy Hubbard in Wellington Aug. 4 through 9. The Hubbards were on vacation. She was a supper guest Aug. 5 of Chris, Dee Anna, and Gabby Stout. Donna Hubbard visited Adeline during her stay.
Deb and Kaylee Hall of Herington and Tom and Dee Duggan are spending a few days with Darla and Adam Hall in Lee’s Summit, Mo. The women gathered with 150 other women for a night out Aug. 10. They shopped, ate out, and went to a preview of the movie, “Eat Pray Love.”

Those helping Paul Backhus celebrate his birthday Aug. 8 with dinner out in Abilene included Tom and Bev Reid of Marion; Mike, Jennifer, and Cody Jay of Hillsboro; Brad, Jason, and Edna Backhus; and Alicia Barney. In the afternoon, they watched a gun battle re-enactment then went to Paul and Edna’s home for birthday cake, ice cream, and to watch Paul open his gifts.

Gary and Carole Spohn went to Herington Aug. 8 to help Carole’s aunt, Velma Jones, celebrate her birthday.
