Jerry and Jeanne Rziha are the proud grandparents of Henry Benedict Rziha, born Sept. 7 to John and Jeanne Rziha of Atchison. Marvin and Marilyn Pendergraf are his maternal grandparents. He is welcomed home by his seven siblings: Michael, 13; Christopher, 11; Joseph, 9; Timothy, 7; Thomas, 5; Charlie, 3; and Anna, 2.

Kristin Bunnel of Merit Island, Fla., is staying a week with her family — Donald and Francie Mueller, Kevin, and Chad. They attended the wedding of Phillip Klenda and Lee Ann Thomas Sept. 4 at Pilsen.

Lifelong resident Margaret Jirak died Sept. 6. She was a respected leader, serving as community leader of Tampa Triple T’s for years and later as president of the senior citizens group, as well as raising a large family and participating in church activities.

Among those attending the wedding of Krista Heiser and Andrew Donahue on Sept. 4 at Trinity Mennonite Church in Hillsboro were Peggy Kleiber and Nick of Salina, Andrea Klenda and Elijah of Pilsen, Leona Kleiber, and Adeline Bernhardt.

Connie Thompson of Abilene visited her mother, Lucille Kerbs, on Sept. 6. They attended the Labor Day celebration in Burdick.

Darla Hall of Lee’s Summit, Mo., visited Deb and Kaylee Hall of Herington and Tom and Dee Duggan on Sept. 4 and 5. Darla, Deb, and Dee went to Salina on Sept. 4 for the 90th birthday party of Vivian Wiedmer, Darla and Deb’s fourth-grade teacher.

Anna Mae Stika, Lori Moldenhauer, Nikki Stenzel, and Mark Gilford went to Burdick on Labor Day. They brought dinner to Lori’s home where Frank Stika joined them.

Mike and Jennifer Jay and Cody of Hillsboro, Tom and Bev Reid of Marion, Paul and Edna Backhus, Jason Backhus, and Alisha Barney attended Labor Day festivities at Florence. Mike and Tom competed in a horseshoe-pitching tournament.

Leona Kleiber and Edna Mueller also attended the Burdick celebration.

Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn and Ashton Smith and Sydney visited Lucille Kerbs after church Sept. 5. Later they went to Salina for dinner and shopping.

Gary and Carole Spohn and Georgia Spohn attended the 90th birthday party for Lenora Graham on Sept. 5 at the senior center in Florence.

Glenn Kerbs of Dodge City was an overnight guest Sept. 3 of his mother, Lucille Kerbs. They attended the Centre football game and watched Rustyn Kerbs play.

Ted and Maxine Zelinski of Omaha stayed Sept. 2 through 4 with their daughter and family, Jim and Kris Srajer, Grant, and Cole. Time and Sue Zelinski, Charlie, and Casey stayed Sept. 5 and 6 with the Srajers. They also visited Tillie Hein.

Mike and Jennifer Jay and Cody of Hillsboro, Paul and Edna Backhus, Brad Backhus, Jason Backhus, Alisha Barney, Rodney Mueller, and Phyllis Mueller were guests of Tom and Bev Reid on Sept. 4 for a cookout. Afterward, they watched a fireworks display.

Lori Moldenhauer and Frank and Anna Mae Stika ate dinner out Sept. 4 in Newton.

Tom and Dee Duggan attended a meeting of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees on Sept. 2 in Herington. Herington Municipal Hospital Administrator Jim Murphy was the featured speaker. Chief financial officer Pat Moyer accompanied him.

Lucille Kerbs went to Abilene on Sept. 2 to meet Elmer Gooding and Denise McClain and Macy of Tempe, Ariz., and Connie Thompson. They ate dinner out and visited.

Lutheran Women’s Missionary League met Sept. 1 in the Lutheran church basement. Jane Bielefeld was host. The Rev. Clark Davis led the lesson. Joyce Medley gave devotions. Other attending included Edna Backhus, Adeline Bernhardt, Kathy Davis, Becky Davis, Leona Kleiber, and Betty Mueller.
