Women attend program in Hillsboro

Georgia Spohn met Lenora Graham and Paulette Zook of Florence on Nov. 15 in Hillsboro. They attended a Learning in Retirement program at Tabor College and ate dinner out. The program speaker was Sara Keckcisen, a family history librarian at Kansas State Historical Society. She traced the history of the Koop and Deutschendorf families, who are ancestors of singer John Denver.

Darla Hall of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Deb and Kaylee Hall of Herington, and Tom and Dee Duggan stayed the weekend with Ernie and Darlene Kite in Bartlesville, Okla. On Nov. 13, they joined other relatives in Van Buren, Ark., for a ride on a passenger train through the Ozark Mountains followed by supper out.

Jane Vajnar visited David and Catarina Rziha and Kathrine on Nov. 16.

Adeline Bernhardt, Edna Mueller, Mary Clemmer, and Tillie Hein attended a fun night Nov. 14 at Ramona Senior Center.

Anna Mae Stika and Lori Moldenhauer visited Lynn Sader in a nursing home Nov. 15 in Hutchinson.

Leona Kleiber stayed Nov. 13 and 14 with Dean and Becky Routh, Melody, Allison, and Danielle in Augusta. On Nov. 13, Dean, Becky, Allison, Danielle, and Leona attended the play, “Oh, Promise Me!” performed by Sunrise Christian Academy students at Sunrises Performance Center in Wichita. Melody Routh was in the cast. They ate dinner out Nov. 14 in Wichita.

Jane Vajnar visited Lucille Kerbs on Nov. 16.

Jerry and Jeanne Rziha joined other relatives Nov. 14 at the home of Janie Hummel in Haysville to celebrate Bonnie Haslouer’s 86th birthday. All of Bonnie’s children attended with some of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marcel and Irma Benda visited Frank and Anna Mae Stika on Nov. 7.

Members of the Shady Ladies Chapter of the Red Hat Society met Nov. 11 in Old Abilene Town for coffee and rolls. They also visited the holocaust exhibit and the Quilts of Valor display at the Eisenhower Museum and library and ate dinner out. After dinner, Everett and Rhea Kolling of Herington, Joyce Cox of Abilene, Tom and Dee Duggan, and Ramona Beisel attended at play at Great Plains Theater. Others participating in morning activities were Anita Hummel and Betty Schlesener of Hope, Karolyn Schlesener, Helen Sorenson, and Barbara Askew of Herington.

Lyal Sader visited Frank and Anna Mae Stika on Nov. 6.
