Lori Moldenhauer and Greg Stenzel went to Manhattan March 7 to attend the initiation of their daughter, Nicole, into Kappa Omicron Nu honor society for the College of Human Ecology at Kansas State University. The honor is based on superior scholarship and leadership achievements. After the ceremony, they attended a reception and took Nikki out for supper to celebrate.

Tampa people attending the Learning in Retirement program March 8 at Tabor College included Georgia Spohn, Mary Clemmer, and Jane Vajnar. Naomi Gaede-Penner gave a presentation about Anna Bortel, the first permanent teacher for the nomadic Nunamiut Eskimos in northern Alaska.

Sunflower Senior Citizens met March 9 at the senior center with Gary and Carole Spohn as hosts. The group ate a potluck dinner followed by a business meeting and card bingo. Others in attendance were Shirley Zaideman, Mary Clemmer, Leona Kleiber, Adeline Bernhardt, and Jane Vajnar.

Guests of Paul and Edna Backhus March 6 and 7 were Bill and Ruth Taylor of Shawnee. Joining them for dinner March 7 were Bev and Tom Reid of Marion, Mike and Jennifer Jay and Cody of Hillsboro, and Brad and Jason Backhus.

Cecilia Rziha of Dallas is spending spring break with her parents, Jerry and Jeanne Rziha. David Rziha of Atchison was a visitor March 9,

A sizeable crowd attended the Tampa Community Association’s pancake feed and game night March 7 at the senior center. Mike and Jennifer Jay and Cody and Kelsie Penner of Hillsboro, Jason Backhus, and Paul and Edna Backhus were among those attending the pancake feed.

Lucille Kerbs visited her daughter, Connie Thompson, March 5 in Abilene. They ate dinner out.

Lutheran Women’s Missionary League arranged a salad supper and World Day of Prayer service March 4 for women of Trinity and Saint John’s churches. Those attending included the Rev. Clark Davis, Edna Backhus, Cindy Bentz, Michele Berens, Adeline Bernhardt, Janet Bielefeld, Becky and Kathy Davis, Leona Kleiber, Joyce Medley, Betty Mueller, Shirley Zaideman, Lucille Kerbs, Ann Sommerfeld, Gertie Moennich, Joy Sarapa, Jean Brunner, Paula Fike, Leona Deines, Leola Neuschafer, and Paula Morgan.

Frank and Anna Mae Stika and Lori Moldenhauer visited Nikki Stenzel March 4 in Manhattan. They ate supper out.
