Tom Duggan attended a meeting May 4 of the Silver-Haired Legislature in Abilene.

Members of Sunflower Senior Center and their guests went on an outing May 3 to Wichita. They toured Botanica, The Wichita Gardens, in the morning, had dinner out, and went to a stained glass store in the afternoon. Those who participated were Adeline Bernhardt, Lucille Bernhardt, Phyllis Branson, Iona Dietrich, Lorraine Havlik, Vernie Konecny, Al and Dorene Sondergard, Jane Vajnar, Don and Carol Zaideman, and Shirley Zaideman.

Tom and Dee Duggan attended a soccer game May 2 in Council grove. Their granddaughter, Kaylee Hall, was playing.

A potluck at St. John’s Lutheran Church after morning worship May 2 celebrated the Rev. Clark Davis’ 15 years as church pastor.

Those helping Jennifer Jay celebrate her birthday May 2 with ice cream and cake at the home of her grandparents, Paul and Edna Backhus, were Mike Jay and Cody and Kelsie Penner of Hillsboro, Bev and Tom Reid of Marion, Brad Backhus, and Jason Backhus.

Lucille Kerbs, Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn, and Ashton Smith and Sydney went to Salina May 2 and enjoyed supper out.

Frank and Anna Mae Stika were guests of Lori Moldenhauer May 2 for supper and a movie.

Steve and Sheri Spohn, Gary and Carol Spohn, Georgia Spohn, and Leo and Sue Yanda gathered May 2 at the Yanda home for a cookout and helped move furniture.

The Rev. Clark Davis led worship services May 2 at Salem Home and Parkside Homes in Hillsboro. Others helping with singing and visiting with residents were Kathy Davis, Joyce Medley, Dennis Klein, Ed Meisinger, Leona Kleiber, and Adeline Bernhardt.

Tom Duggan spent the weekend in Kansas City helping his grandson, Adam Hall, with his Eagle Scout project of collecting baby items for needy families.

Jerry and Jeanne Rzhia attended a band concert May 2 at Benedictine College in Atchison. Their daughter, Julie Rzhia, plays in the band.

Deb Hall and Kaylee of Herington and Dee Duggan attended the wedding of Elizabeth Dillon and Ed Birk May 1 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Manhattan. A reception and dinner followed.

Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, and Betty Mueller attended a kindergarten through sixth-grade program April 29 at Centre High School. Leona’s great-grandson, Tanner Stuchlik, was one of the children performing.

Tom and Lori Moldenhauer and Greg Stenzel went to Manhattan April 23 and enjoyed supper out with Nikki Stenzel and a friend to celebration Lori’s birthday.

In last week’s news, Nikki Stenzel and her friend from Manhattan were omitted from those attending a family birthday celebration for Frank Stika and Lori Moldenhauer.
